We sail at Burghfield Sailing Club, situated near Theale, off junction 12 of the M4. Many RUSC members have their own vehicles therefore there is rarely a problem in getting to the club. We meet on the University’s Whiteknights campus in the SportsPark car park (see map below) and drive approximately 9 miles to Burghfield. RUSC members who receive lifts from other members should give their drivers £1.00 out of common courtesy and to pay for their driver’s fuel consumption.

Burghfield is amongst the biggest inland sailing clubs in the UK, with more than 200 acres of water on which to sail. Its location on the idyllic Kennet Valley provides members with the advantage of south-westerly winds.

Burghfield Sailing Club has a membership count in excess of 900 sailors, ranging from novices to experienced team racers. The club holds various events and courses throughout the year.

The Burghfield clubhouse, which we have access to, includes changing facilities and a bar with a lounge area. We also keep our boats at Burghfield, and have our own secure shed for the storage of sailing equipment.

We have a very good relationship with Burghfield Sailing Club, who also kindly provide their facilities in order for us to host our own sailing event, the Wet Dream.
